On Sunday 24 April 2011, in the evening, thousands of Armenians gathered in front of the St. Stephen Chapel of the Martyrs of the Genocide in Antelias. Among those present were religious leaders, representing the Armenian Catholic and Protestant communities, representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Tashnak, the Social Democrat Party, Henchag, and Ramgavar, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, as well as ministers and parliamentarians.
His Holiness Aram I presided over the service. After the final benediction, representatives of the Armenian parties and the Ambassador of Armenia to Lebanon addressed the people.
Catholicos Aram I concluded the evening, calling on the young people to take up their responsibility; he stated, “On the threshold of the 100th anniversary of our genocide, we must develop a more coordinated approach to our just demands, especially that of compensation. Today, we ask the youth to take the leadership and continue the legacy of our martyrs.”
