Sudan: The Orthodox Church in the country has been granted permission to build a place of worship in its own land in Hay-Elrawda, Omdurman according to a CSW report. The permission was granted on 16h of July 2021. However, initially, the request was denied by the Urban Planning department citing that the land shall be only used for residential purposes.

The approval was granted after overcoming a lot of hurdles. However, the report doesn’t specify to which Orthodox denomination was the permission granted since Coptic, Eritrean, Ethiopian Orthodox and Greek Orthodox Churches have active communities in Sudan.
