The 8th Enthronement Anniversary of Patriarch Abune Mathias of Ethiopia

Addis Ababa-Ethiopia: His Holiness Abune Mathias celebrated the 8th anniversary of enthronement as the Patriarch of Ethiopia on March 3, 2021. Limited celebrations were held at the Patriarchate Hall with the participation of Prelates and faithful of the Church.

During the ceremony, Patriarch Abune Mathias urged prayers and support for all those who suffer as a result of the on-going conflicts across the country especially during the time of the Great Lent (which will start on Monday, March 8). He stated that several unexpected events took place that has adversely affected the life of Ethiopians and prayed for the souls of all victims who lost their lives during the unfortunate events. Patriarch Abune Mathias stated that the failure on the part of the  Church and similar organizations have resulted in the current turmoil. The Primate also urged to sustain peace and reconciliation in the country.

The Patriarch provided the amount for the celebration of his anniversary so that the amount allocated by the Church for the celebration can be utilised to aid vulnerable people across Ethiopia.
