On Friday celebrations began in New York devoted to the 90th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad. Celebrations were held in the Cathedral of our Lady of the Sign Russian Orthodox church in Manhattan.

The Anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church was first held as a sign of reconciliation with the Russian Orthodox Church.

The reunification of the two churches, after decades of division caused by a revolution and civil war, occurred on the 17th of May 2007.

The Russian Orthodox Church has about 300 parishes and 20 monasteries.
