Moscow patriarch urged UOC(KP) to join ROC as Autonomous Church

Patriarch Kiril, now on a visit in Ukraine, proposed to the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) to join the Russian Orthodox Church, Religia v Ukrayini reported Apr. 27.

Kiril said ROC will accept UOC(KP) as an autonomous church, preserving its structure and sources of revenue. The only condition is to attend sessions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate)

UOC (MP) joined ROC in 2007 on condition of autonomy.

In a recent scandal in the United States, the ROC tried to engulf the Orthodox Church of America.

According to experts, Kiril’s major strategy is to enroll any orthodox communities in order to expand the influence of ROC.
