Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates in the Church of the Holy Spirit at the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius on his commemoration day

On 8 October 2014, the commemoration day of St. Sergius, hegumen of Radonezh and Wonderworker of All Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. After the service that was celebrated with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Metropolitan Hilarion delivered a sermon.

After the Liturgy His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and all archpastors who celebrated in the churches of the monastery went in the procession with the cross to the Laura’s square. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated a prayer service before the icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh and later addressed all participants in the celebration with his primatial homily.
