Holy Week Schedule at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

The Mother See is pleased to announce this year’s schedule of Holy Week and Easter Services. All services will be held in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. We encourage our faithful world-wide to participate in the services leading up to the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Armenian communities throughout the world will be able to watch Easter Divine Liturgy broadcast live from the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin on Sunday morning, April 20, on Armenian Public Television available through satellite providers. The international television broadcast schedule will be announced soon.


10:00 am – Blessing of the Four Corners of the Earth (Andastan) 11:00am – Divine Liturgy and Blessing of the Children service (following the Holy Service) 17:30 am – Opening of the Doors Service ( Drnbatsek)

HOLY TUESDAY – COMMEMORATION OF THE TEN VIRGINS – April 15 05:30 pm – Evening Services

HOLY THURSDAYApril 17 07:30 Morning Service and “Karg Apashkharoghats” (Service for those who are fasting) 10:30 am – Divine Liturgy 04:00 pm – Washing of the Feet Service – Offered by His Holiness Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians 07:00 pm – Betrayal Service in memory of the betrayal of Our Lord Jesus Christ

HOLY FRIDAYApril 18 12:00 noon – Crucifixion Service 17:30 pm – Burial Service .Following the Burial service a pre-feast service will be offered. During the service the symbolic Tomb of Christ is solemnly processed around the outside of the church. The ceremony will be presided HH Karekin II

HOLY SATURDAY (Easter Eve) – April 19 17:30 pm – Evening Service and Candlelight Divine Liturgy. Holy Scripture readings and the reading of the Prophet Daniels’ letter will be followed by the Evening Service, and then Divine Liturgy.
