His Holiness Karekin II Received the Newly Appointed Ambassador of Greece to Armenia

Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – October 2016

On 10 October, Nafsika Nancy Eva Vraila, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to the Republic of Armenia; was received in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

His Holiness congratulated the Ambassador on her new appointment and wished her a successful mission.

During the meeting, His Holiness highlighted the friendly relations existing between the two countries, which serve as a solid basis for further development of cooperation. His Holiness reflected on the historical ties between the two nations, speaking about the heavy and tragic losses suffered by both peoples during the Ottoman Empire.

Ambassador Vraila expressed gratitude to His Holiness for the reception and best wishes, assuring that she will put every effort into deepening the relations between the friendly countries and strengthening the Armenian-Greek cooperation.

During the meeting, His Holiness put emphasis on the existing cooperation between the Mother See and the Greek Embassy in Armenia, and expressed gratitude for the support provided for the education of Armenian clergymen in Greece, as well as for obtaining olive oil necessary for the preparation of the Holy Chrism. They also discussed the fraternal relations between the two Churches.

Attending the meeting was His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See.
