St. Phoebe Center for the History of the Deaconess has announced the full list of speakers for its first conference “Women & Diaconal Ministry in the Orthodox Church: Past, Present & Future” to be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
Speakers include Sister Rebecca of New Skete Monastery; Susan Ashbrook Harvey, PhD; Valerie A. Karras, ThD., PhD; AnnMarie Mecera; Clio Pavlantos, MDiv; Teva Regule, PhD (candidate); Caren Stayer, PhD; Rev. Fr. Steven Tsichlis; and Phyllis Zagano, PhD. The conference is geared to both lay people and academics, and men and women in all jurisdictions interested in learning about the rejuvenation of the entire diaconate—for both male and female—for the building up of the Church today.
