On March 10, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, welcomed Mr. Ivan Mrkic, Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia; and his delegation.
During the meeting the Catholicos of All Armenians reflected on the historical connection of the Armenian and Serbian people and modern challenges, highlighting the essential role of the Armenian Apostolic and Serbian Orthodox Churches in the religious- cultural as well as political life of the two nations.
His Holiness gladly noted that the relations between the two countries was further strengthening, emphasizing that as two nations believing in rebirth, current challenges would be overcome with a positive spirit.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed to His Holiness Karekin II greetings and best wishes from His Holiness Irineos, Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Mr. Mrkic also discussed the outcomes of his visit, reflecting on the urgency to overcome current similar problems in the lives of the peoples of both nations, with united efforts.
They also discussed the ongoing progress of the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, as well as the spiritual life and social- economic issues in both countries.
