Sofia-Bulgaria: On February 16, the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (the national news agency of Bulgari) marked 123 years since its establishment. The anniversary was marked with a festive water dedication at the National Press Club of the Agency at the invitation of the newly elected director Kiril Valchev, who assumed charge of the office in early February this year. The church service was officiated by Fr. Angel Angelov, spiritual supervisor of the Sofia Diocese, and Archpriest Kostadin Trenev. The general director of BTA Kiril Valchev, directors of the respective units and journalists were present during the blessing ceremony.
On the festive occasion, Patriarch Neophyte received the General Director of BTA Kiril Valchev at the Patriarchal residence. “I am aware of the great role of the media, and especially of BTA, for the spiritual strengthening of Bulgarians” stated the Primate of the Bulgarian Church.
Director Kiril Valchev stated that BTA is more than happy to disseminate information about the Church holidays. They also discussed various initiatives in which the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency couls play an important role in the spiritual strengthening of the Bulgarian people.
