Damascus- Syria: Archbishop Selwanos Petros Al-Nemeh of Homs and Hama of the Syriac Orthodox Church entered eternal rest at the age of 52.
He was born in 1968 in Saddad, Syria. Upon the completion of his studies in theology from the Greek University at Athens, he was consecrated as a Metropolitan Bishop in 1999 by the late lamented Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas of Antioch and All East.
The late Archbishop was an active figure among the faithful in the region of Homs during the Syrian civil war. He was deeply involved in rebuilding the Syriac Christian community who were severely affected by the conflict.
