On the 19th Independence Day of Ukraine the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church prayed at the Kyiv-Caves Monastery
On August 24,the 19th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr celebrated a prayer service in the square in front of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Lifting up thanksgiving prayers to God, His Beatitude Volodymyr asked God for blessing and well-being of the Ukrainian state, its people and authorities.
Praying at the divine service was President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich, Prime-Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, chairman of the Supreme Council (Verkhovna Rada) of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn, Ukrainian executives, parliament members and other high officials.
After the prayer service the Archpastor wished the President of Ukraine God’s assistance in administering our state, wished prosperity and development to our state:
“May God save You, Victor Fedorovich, protect from any misfortune, may God grant you strength, and reason and a good heart to perform the good deed for which your people and God Himself installed you. May God’s help be with You and may God’s blessing for prosperity, development of the country and all its citizens stay above Ukraine”, he noted in particular.
In his turn the head of the state addressed those attending with a word, in which he greeted them on the Independence Day:
“Today we prayed that God granted us peace and happiness to our people. I believe that we will be able to build a strong state by ourselves, the state we can be proud of, the one to be respected in the world. I know that without faith in our God Lord nothing can be done. Therefore let’s pray that he granted our state peace and granted us all the understanding and desire to live in a strong state” noted President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich.
