Catholicos of the East Briefed on the Progress of Met. Alvares Julius Research Project

Malankara- India: A special briefing was provided to His Holiness Moran Mor Baselios Marthoma Paulose II (Catholicos on the Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas & Malankara Metropolitan, Ecclesiastical Primate of the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church and the head of the Malankara Nasranis) on the progress of the Metropolitan Alvares Julius Research Project (MARP).

OCP–German Delegation Visits Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Paulose II of the East

The briefing was given by George Alexander (Secretary of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society) during the maiden visit by an OCP delegation to the office of the Catholicos of the East on the 19th of February 2019.

Catholicos was briefed on the history of the project, the achievements, and future prospectus. George also presented the Catholicos with a copy of the first part of the book ‘Western Rites of Syriac-Malankara Orthodox Churches’.

Instituted in 2009, Metropolitan Alvares Julius Research Project (MARP™) is the pilot initiative to research and study Western Rite communities (Latin, Anglo Rites & Independent Catholic movements) of Oriental Orthodox Churches with special reference to Syriac and Indian Orthodox Malankara Churches. Dr. Ajesh T. Phlip is the Head and Chief Research Officer of MARP. MARP is a project under the Center for Orthodox Studies COS, which is an organ of the Dept. of the Church Research and Studies of the OCP Society.
