Visit of the Brazilian Ambassador to the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate

Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate – June 2016

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency Mr. Achilles Zaluar, Ambassador of Brazil in Damascus, at the patriarchate in Bab Touma, Damascus.

His Excellency personally condemned the terroristic attack that took place a week ago in Qamishly, during the pastoral visit of His Holiness to the city.

He also stressed the influential and pioneer role of His Holiness as a leader of the Syriac community, always putting faith and hope in the hearts of the faithful.

In turn, His Holiness thanked His Excellency for his support and asked him to advocate the case of the Christians in the Middle East.

The meeting was attended by their Eminences Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
