The 2nd International Scientific-Practical Conference “Cossacks Abroad” is Held in Paris

On February 18-20, 2017, the Russian Spiritual-Cultural Center in Paris hosted the 2nd International Scientific-Practical Conference “Cossacks Abroad, 1917-2017” with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The forum was organized by the Synodal Committee on Cossack Coordination of the Moscow Patriarchate jointly with the Russian Embassy in Paris, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Paris, the Korsun Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate, the Memorial Union of the Cossack Imperial Guard (Paris), the AP Bogaevsk Cossack Stanitsa (Paris), with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Fedeartion and the President’s Cossack Council.

His Eminence Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, head of the SCCC, presided over the event, which aims to consolidate Cossackdom on the foundation of the traditions of the Fatherland, and to encourage cooperation of compatriots living abroad with Russian Cossack communities and the Russian Orthodox Church.

The forum was attended by representatives of the descendants of Cossacks and members of Cossack groups and associations, Russian government representatives, social and political figures, academic, cultural and educational experts, the mass media, and Cossack groups represented by 111 individuals from Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, France, Iran, Afghanistan, the UAE and Estonia.
