Statement by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s Holy Synod Concerning Deir El-Sultan

The bi-annual plenary meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has ratified the following points regarding the Ethiopian Monastery of Deir El-Sultan, Jerusalem:

1. To write a letter of appreciation to the Government of Israel for beginning the renovations on the damaged Church of Saint Michael, in accordance with their promise and without being impeded by the provocative acts of the Copts.

2. To give an official response to the false statement produced by the Coptic Pope and Synod concerning the history and proprietorship of Deir El-Sultan.

3. That a public statement be produced and frequent media-related productions made, which tell the true history that the monastery belongs to the Ethiopians and is an ancient heritage of all black people and expose the wrongdoing and provocative acts of the
Copts.
