His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of Holy Prince Lazar ин the crypt of the Saint Sava Memorial Cathedral in Belgrade on the joyous feast-day of the Nativity of the Lord – Christmas, 7 January 2018.
In addition to lots of faithful people, the solemn festive service was attended by Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic and Princess Katherine; Mr. Nikola Selakovic, envoy and Secretary General of the President of the Republic of Serbia; Mr. Ivica Dacic, First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Aleksandar Antic, Minister of Mining and Energy; Mr. Goran Vesic, City Manager; Mr. Marko Nikolic, Phd, Deputy Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities; Apostolic Nuncio Luciano Suriani; Roman Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar; representatives of the traditional Churches and religious communities, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as by people from the cultural and public life of the capital.
His Holiness Patriarch was concelebrated by protopresbyter-staurophors Predrag Puzovic, PhD, Dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty and Prof. Vladimir Vukasinovic, PhD; presbyter Predrag Prodic and protodeacons Radomir Percevic and Igor Davidovic, along with the chanting of the Children’s choir and the Saint Sava Cathedral choir.
Archimandrite Stefan, dean of the Saint Sava Cathedral, read the Nativity Encyclical of His Holiness Irinej and all hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The solemn Liturgy was broadcasted live by the Radio Television of Serbia.
After the Holy Liturgy, Patriarch Irinej blessed the Christmas wheat loaf along with representatives of the state and city authorities, and many believers, on the Saint Sava’s plateau in front of the Saint Sava Cathedral.
