Serbian Orthodox Bishop Sergius of Middle Europe enthroned


His Holiness Irenaeus, Serbian Patriarch, introduced His Grace Sergius to the throne of Bishops of Middle Europe during the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Hummelsthur on 7 September 2014.

Serbian Patriarch Irenaeus was concelebrated by Metropolitan of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for Germany Augustinos, Metropolitan Porfirius of Zagreb-Ljubljana, Bishop Irenaeus of Backa, Bishop Athanasius of Bihac-Petrovac and Bishop Marko of Bregalnica. The Liturgy was also attended by many bishops: Bishop Lucian of Budim, Bishop Chrysostomos of Zvornik-Tuzla, Bishop Theodosius of Raska-Prizren, Bishop Gerasimos of Gornji Karlovac, David of Krusevac, Andrew of Austria-Switzerland, Anthony of Moravica and David of Stobi.

Also, concelebrants at the Liturgy were: Archimandrite Hieronim Mocevic, elected Bishop of Yegar; Schi-Archimandrite Basil Grolimund, Archimandrites Seraphim of Rmanj, Archimandrite Basil, abbot of the Klisine Monastery; Archimandrite Barnabas, abbot of the Treskavac monastery; protopresbyter-stavrophor George Trajkovic, diocesan dean for Bayern; protopresbyter-stavrophor Nedjo Janjic, diocesan dean for Northern Rhein-Whestphalia; archpriest Borisav Simic; diocesan dean for North and East Germany; protodeacon Damjan Bozic and deacons Vladimir Rumenic and Nikola Perkovic.

The solemn Liturgy was attended by Vice President of the Government of Serbia and Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic, Director of the Bureau for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Dr. MiletaRadojevic, Vicar Bishop Heinz-Gunter Bongartz (Roman-Catholic Church in Germany), Dr. Martin Illert (Evangelical Church in Germany), Vice President of the Lower Saxony State Parliament Klaus-Peter Bachmann and Mayor of Hummelsthur Alfons Bruns.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy the decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops was read by His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirius of Zagreb-Ljubljana, and Metropolitan Porfirius of Zagreb-Ljubljana and Bishop Ireneaus of Backa introduced Sergius into the throne of the Bishops of the Diocese of Middle Europe. His Holiness Patriarch Irinej presented Bishop Sergius a pastoral staff.
