Republika Srpska will help rebuild the Cathedral Church in Zagreb with one hundred thousand euros

At the beginning of his visit to Zagreb, Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Milorad Dodik, paid a friendly visit to the Metropolitanate of Zagreb-Ljubljana on September 16, 2020. The high dignitary was welcomed by the competent Diocesan hierarch, Metropolitan Porfirije. The meeting took place in the premises of the Serbian Orthodox Public Gymnasium of “Katarina Brankovic Kantakuzin”. During the meeting, they discussed conditions of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community in Croatia, as well as the renovation of the Orthodox Cathedral in Zagreb, which has been damaged in the earthquake on March 22, 2020.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the Metropolitan said that in these conditions mutual love and understanding were more important than anything. – We considered what we should do in order to remain what we are, and even further on, in order to grow in what we are, while always taking into account respect for the values ​​of all others, said the Metropolitan.

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Dodik, drew attention to the importance of the Gymnasium, which has educated several generations of students so-far, experts in various fields, and stated that the Republika Srpska will help rebuild the Cathedral Church in Zagreb with one hundred thousand euros. – The church is very important for maintaining the Serbian identity both in the Republic of Croatia and anywhere in the world, said Mr. Dodik.
