ODESSA. Relics of the first new martyr of the 20th century Kyiv Metropolitan Vladimir Bogoyavlensky laid in the foundation of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral
The relics of the first new martyr of the 20th century Metropolitan Vladimir (Bogoyavlensky)of Kyiv and Halych were laid in the foundation of the altar of the Cathedral of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Savior consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in Odessa.
To that also testifies the text of memorial inscription on the foundation tablet: “This Holy Altar of the Cathedral of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Savior in Odessa is consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in concelebration of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and His Eminence Agathangel of Odessa and Izmail on July 21, 2010 on commemoration of the Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, and the relics of the hieromartyr Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kyiv are laid”.
Hieromartyr Vladimir is the first new martyr of the Russian Land, the God-pleaser together with the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves glorifies God in the abodes of the Heavenly Kingdom. His life journey is an example of Christian sanctity and prayerful feat. His soul rejoices now in the abodes of God, calling everyone to sacrifice oneself for the sake of God and neighbor.
The honorable relics of the holy hierarch were invented in 1992. Now they rest in the far Caves of the Kyiv –Pechersk Lavra and are venerated both by the monastery brethren and numerous pilgrims coming to bow unto these shrines.
Now the parishioners of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral of Odessa will ask his prayerful intercession before God.
