SCV – 25/10/17

SCV is pleased to announce that Professor Evangelos Theodorou has given us permission for his original research on the ordained female deacon (deaconess) to be posted on our website so as to be available to the general public.

Inspired by the progress of the rejuvenation of the ministry of deaconesses enacted by the Patriarchate of Alexandria over the past year, he stated, “It is my deepest hope that other scholars have the opportunity to carefully review my research, resources and analysis for themselves in order to contribute to the literature and wisdom regarding this order of ordained ministry and the ministry of women in the Church, more generally…I am delighted that these volumes are available in time for the next session of meetings for the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria. This way, our holy hierarchs will have considerable primary material cited and easily available for consideration during their discussions. It is my sincerest hope that the Compassionate God will inspire their deliberations, enabling the Church to proceed with the ordination of women to the diaconate where ever this may be needed, for the sake of the building up of the body of Christ.”

His two classic books (in Greek) on the ordination of deaconesses, Heroines of Love: Deaconesses through the Ages and “’Ordination” or “Appointment” of Deaconesses  can be accessed by clicking on the links and visiting our website.
