Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate – 9/9/17

A few days ago, His Excellency Dr. Bashar Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, visited the temporary site of the Monastery of the Holy Cross in Saydnaya. He was accompanied by the members of his family.

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency at the entrance of the monastery in the presence of His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in Damascus, and the monks of the monastery.

With great joy, the children of the “Little Angel House” Orphanage welcomed His Excellency and the members of his family. His Excellency joined the children of the orphanage and the monks and nuns to lunch at the Monastery of the Holy Cross.

On this occasion, His Holiness informed His Excellency about the projects that the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate is doing in the region.
