Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II & Swiss President Alain Berset Discuss ‘Abducted Bishops’

On August 28th 20118, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met with His Excellency Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, at the Maronite Patriarchal Residence in Dimane, North Lebanon.

The meeting was hosted by His Beatitude and Eminence Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and was attended by their Holinesses and Beatitudes: Mor Ignatius Joseph III Younan, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Joseph Absi, Melkite-Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, Alexandria, and Jerusalem, and Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia for the Armenian Orthodox Church.

The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Mgr Joseph Spiteri, Apostolic Nuncio in Lebanon, as well as representatives of the various religions in Lebanon.

During the meeting, words were given about the good relations between Lebanon and Switzerland, as well as the current situations in the Middle East, and the issue of the refugees.

His Holiness brought to attention the case of the abduction of the two Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim, and Boulos Yaziji, and asked the help of His Excellency President Berset to bring this case to a good end.
