Patriarch Kirill gives consent to Belarus’ Exarchate office in Moscow

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill gave consent to the proposal of the Belarusian Orthodox Church to open an office of the Belarusian Exarchate in Moscow, Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus told bishops at the Synod meeting, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Exarchate.

“I am pleased to say that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has blessed our request to open an office of the Belarusian Exarchate in Moscow,” Metropolitan Filaret said.

Besides, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus reminded the participants of the meeting that the year 2014 marks the 700th birthday of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh. “Many priests of our church have developed spiritually at the remains of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh at the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius. We need to think over the celebrations of this remarkable date,” he said.
