Patriarch Abune Mathias and Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II Discuss Persecution of Christians

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II – Patriarch of the of Antioch and All the East and His Holiness Abuna Mathias – Patriarch of Ethiopia discussed on their respective churches bilateral relation and on the ongoing both during the brotherly encounter in Budapest, Hungary. The Primates met as part of 2nd international conference on Christian persecution which was held from 26th to 28th, of November 2019.

Patriarch Abune Mathias stated that the Church of Ethiopia always prays for the Syriac Orthodox faithful who are undergoing persecution in the Middle East, especially in Iraq and Syria.

Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II Meets Patriarch Abune Mathias of Ethiopia

Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II urged the Ethiopian Church to work continually in association with various govt. and international humanitarian agencies to protect and defend the rights of the persecuted faithful in Ethiopia. At the end of the meeting, an invitation was extended by Patriarch Abune Mathias to Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II to visit Ethiopia.
