Metropolitan Yulios extends invitation to Patriarch Abune Mathias for the bicentennial memorial of Pulikkottil Joseph Mar Dionysius I

ADDIS ABABA: On behalf of HH Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East, Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan, HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, has extended a personal invite to HH Abuna Mathias I at Addis Ababa. The meeting which took place on October 12 invited the 6th Patriarch and Catholicos of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum and Ichege of the See of Saint Taklehaimanot, for an Apostolic visit to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church from November 19-25, 2016.

His Holiness will be the chief guest of the Bicentennial Memorial of Sabha Jyothis Pulikkottil Joseph Mar Dionysius I, which is being planned to be held at Kunnamkulam, Kerala on November 20.

Dr Mar Yulios presently undertaking a visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is representing the Indian (Malankara) Syrian Orthodox Church at the regional Orthodox-Evangelical consultation of senior leaders, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from October 11 to 14.

On October 13, Metropolitan Mar Yulios delivered a talk on ‘The role of religious communities in peace-building’ followed by a plenary discussion.

The Lausanne-Orthodox Initiative (LOI), is a venture jointly led by evangelical and Orthodox Christians which grew out of the Lausanne Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2010. To date, the LOI has held three highly successful international consultations hosted in Albania and Finland. The Lausanne consultation will have its theme based on ‘Witness, Peace and Unity.’

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church belong to the family of Oriental Orthodox Churches which enjoy full communion with each other. His Holiness Patriarch Mathias and His Holiness Catholicos Paulose II, have strived to strengthen the relationship between the two sister Churches, as well as the greater Oriental Orthodox Church.
