Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus Filaret has refused to meet with Tatsyana Sevyarynets, the mother of political prisoner Pavel Sevyarynets.

At the same time, he blessed Bishop of Borysausk, vicar of Minsk diocese Veniamin to this meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm March 31, the press service of the Belarusian Christian Democracy reports.

According to Tatsyana, she is going to speak with him about her son and also about all inmates of the KGB jail, because the Orthodox Church and the KGB have not signed an agreement on confession of detainees in the jail.

The same question was raised by Tatsyana Sevyarynets on March 31 at a meeting with representative of General Prosecutor’s Office Pustushala, who is responsible for dealing with the KGB. “I applied for a meeting between Pavel and a priest. Paragraph 102 of article 10 of internal rules of the KGB jail offers this possibility,” she noted.

The mother of the BCD co-chairman said about a meeting with her son’s lawyer. According to the lawyer, Pavel looks and feels good and extends greetings and thanks to everyone. “He wishes in his letters to work and hold on,” Tatsyana says.
