Karabakh President meets primate of Western Diocese of Armenian Apostolic Church


President of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan attended on Sunday a religious service held at the St. Leon Cathedral of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Los Angeles.

President Sahakyan also held a meting with the diocese’s primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, members of the diocesan council and representatives of the local Armenian community.

They discussed the issues related to socio-economic situation in Karabakh and further deepening the Karabakh-Diaspora relations. President Sahakyan gave appraisal of the activities of the Western Diocese aimed at preserving the Armenian national identity, cementing the Motherland-Diaspora ties and assisting Karabakh.

Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Armenia’s Consul General to Los Angeles Grigor Hovhannisyan, head of the central information department of NKR President’s office David Babayan, NKR permanent representative to U.S. and Canada Robert Avetisyan and other officials were present at the meeting.
