Serbian Church – 17/7/13
Their Graces Bishops Hrizostom of Zvornik-Tuzla, Longin of Midwestern America, Pahomije of Vranje, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and retired Konstantin of Middle Europe celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy.
The seat of the Orthodox Serbian bishops for areas of Northern or Northeastern Bosnia has been located in the town of Tuzla (former Soli) since 1852, when Metropolitan Agatangel of Zvornik came from Zvornik and began a construction of the new episcopal residence in Tuzla. Since then this church unit has borne a name of a Metropolitanate, i.e. Diocese of Zvornik-Tuzla. Due to the war and the atmosphere of instability (1992-1995) the seat of God-saved Diocese of Zvornik-Tuzla was moved to Bijeljina, where offices of Diocesan bodies, the Church Ecclesiastic Court and administration are situated at the monastery of Saint Basil of Ostrog.
His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, as an envoy of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, and as a member of the Holy Synod of Bishops enthroned Bishop Hrizostom (Jevic) of Zvornik-Tuzla. This significant event and ceremony was attended by representatives of political bodies of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and religious communities: Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Svetozar Pudaric, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Denis Becirovic, Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton Mr. Sead Causevic, Mayor of Tuzla Mr. Jasmin Imamovic, Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton Dr. Hamdija Lipovac, director of the Secretariat for religions of the Government of Republic of Srpska Mr. Jovo Turanjanin, guardian of Franciscan monastery of Sts.
