Consecration and Enthronement of the Vicar Bishop Stefan

Bishop Stefan will bear title of Bishop of Remesiana – The rite of consecration was performed with the participation of a great number of hierarchs of the Srbian Church – President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik with the president of the National Assembly Nedeljko Cubrilovic, along with envoy of the President of Serbia Nikola Selakovic and Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic attending –The Divine Liturgy was also attendied by the Belgrade nuntio Luciano Suriani and Archbishop Stanislav Hocevar.

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy and the solemn rite of consecration of Elected and Proclaimed, Very Venerable Archimandrite Stefan (Saric), former Principal  of the Saint Sava Cathedral in Belgrade, as Bishop of Remesiana,  who will be Vicar Bishop of Serbian Patriarch Irinej. The event took place  in the crypt of the Saint Sava Memorial Cathedral in Vracar on the third Sunday after Pentecost, on the feast-day of Holy myrrh-bearers Marta and Maria, 17 June 2018.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church was concelebrated by: His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana and Their Graces Bishops: Irinej of Backa; Dositej of Britain-Scandinavia, Pahomije of Vranje; Jovan of Sumadija; Ignjatije of Branicevo; Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla; Atanasije of Mileseva; Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic; Gerasim of Gornji Karlovci; Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac; Arsenije of Nis; Nikodim of Dalmatia; Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja; Vicar Bishops: Antonije of Moravica and Kirilo of Buenos Aires and South Central America Kirilo; as well as Bishops Electii: Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina; Isihije of Mohac and Metodije of Dioclea.

At this solemn gathering abbots of monasteries, rectors of seminaries and many deans of churches concelebrated as well.

Next to relatives and friends of Bishop Stefan, many priests, monks from many monasteries of our Local Church, brotherhood of the Cathedral and pious faithful people, the Liturgy was attended by: General Secretary of the President of  the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic, President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and President of the National Assembly of Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Cubrilovic; Director of the Office for the Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Dr. Mileta Radojevic; His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar with his wife; His Excellency Luciano Suriani, Apostolic Nuncio in Serbia; Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar, and some personalities from public and cultural life of the Republic of Serbia as well as representatives of the media.
