Assyrian Church of the East – 5/3/18

On Sunday 18 February 2018, His Grace Mar Aprim Khamis, Bishop of Western USA of the Assyrian Church of the East laid the foundation stone for the future St Mar Yosip Khnanisho Church in Gilbert, Arizona. The ceremony was attended by a large congregation of priests, deacons and faithful.

Upon construction, this church will serve the faithful of the Assyrian Church of the East in the surrounding area.

The church is named for His Beatitude the late Mar Yosip Khnanisho of blessed memory (Metropolitan from 1918 – 1977) who rested in peace in Baghdad, Iraq, Sunday 3rd July 1977. He is interred in the Church of St Mary the Virgin in N’ah’reeah and Ga’yah’rah in New Baghdad.
