On November 24th, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Piotr Świtalski, Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia.
Welcoming the visit of the Ambassador to Mother See, His Holiness wished him success in his mission.
His Holiness presented the historical important mission and role of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in the life if the Armenian people to Ambassador Świtalski. The Armenian Patriarch also reflected on the relations between the Armenian Church and the sister Christian Churches.
During the meeting, on the occasion of the tragic events that occurred in Paris, His Holiness expressed his condolences to the EU Ambassador and conveyed his prayers and blessings to the families of the innocent victims. Condemning the terrorist acts, His Holiness expressed hope that through the joint efforts of the Heads of the State and spiritual leaders, it will be possible to overcome all the challenges and create a safe, favorable and peaceful life for mankind.
During the meeting, Ambassador Świtalski reflected on his mission in Armenia, stressing the importance of the development and strengthening of the relations between the EU and Armenia.
The Catholicos and the Ambassador spoke about the tolerant attitude of the Armenian people towards other religions and cultures, and universal spiritual-moral values.
Attending the meeting was His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of Mother See.
