On July 4, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the members of the Shushi Dance Ensemble of New Jersey (USA), accompanied by Mr. Hratch Toufayan, philanthropist of the Mother See.
His Holiness conveyed his blessings and appreciation to the dance ensemble and its supporters, remarking on the educational and instructive mission undertaken by the prominent group. His Holiness noted that the dance ensemble has planned to perform in the homeland during their visit to Armenia.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians, at the request of His Eminence Archbishop Khajak Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, awarded the Medal of St. Sahak – St. Mesrop to Mrs. Seda Paskalyan-Gandarjian, the Shushi choreographer, in appreciation of her many years of dedicated service.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness blessed the attendees with a prayer. Then, wishing success to the activities of Shushi, he urged the dance ensemble supporters to constantly promote this patriotic initiative, so that the national dances and traditions will be passed-on to the younger generations.
