Candle of Memory international action starts in Moscow cathedral on the eve of commemorating the first war Day

Moscow. June 21, Interfax – Action Candle of Memory: June 22 will be held on Monday evening in 100 cities and towns of Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia.

The action starts in the Moscow Yelokhovo Cathedral where the first “candle of memory” is to be lit. The requiem service for warriors killed in the Great Patriotic War will be conducted here, organizers told an Interfax-Religion correspondent.

Then the Night Wolves bikers will take the symbolic candle to the Poklonnaya Gora Memorial, where the central part of the action with youth and veterans participating will be held near the Memorial Fire. The relay race will be handed over to other Russian cities and near-abroad countries.

The first action of such kind took place last year. The Candle of Memory was then lit in Moscow, in the Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, in Yaroslavl, Krasnodar, Irkutsk, Tula, Ryazan, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, the Brest Fortress.
