WASHINGTON – His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America attended the Easter Prayer Breakfast at the White House, yesterday, along with Christian religious leaders from around the United States, and was seated at the table of Vice-President Joe Biden.
President Obama welcomed the religious leaders, thanked them for their continued prayers and said the prayer breakfast was an opportunity for fellowship, friendship and reflection. He spoke about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that led to His glorious resurrection. He also spoke about the message of renewal, hope and love of the Resurrection and the affirmation that better days are ahead.
Following the breakfast, the Archbishop attended a Briefing on International and Domestic Policy Issues, at the adjacent Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
