Kerala-India: The Jacobite Syrian Christian Association held on 19/11/18 at the Punthecruz Patriarchal center has re-elected His Beatitude Abune Mor Thomas I as the Metropolitan Trustee of the Syriac Orthodox Church in India.

His Beatitude is the current Catholicos of India and Primate of the Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church, which is an autonomous Church under the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch and All-East. His Beatitude Abune Thomas I is the head of the Church since 2002. Catholicos of India is the second in position to the Patriarch of Antioch. As the head of the Church in India, he presides over the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Association.

The Association also elected Rt. Rev. Chorbishop Sleeba Vattavelil as the Priest Trustee, Shri. Shaji Choondayil as the Lay-Trustee and Adv. Peter Elias as the Church Secretary.
