Orthodox celebrations of the Border Guard holiday were organized in Siemiatycze. On May 13 dean of the Border Guard within the Orthodox Military Ordinariate of the Polish Army organized the Orthodox celebration of the Border Guard. The ceremony began with the Orthodox Church liturgy. Orthodox Ordinary of the Military Ordinariate Bishop Jerzy celebrated the Liturgy at the St. apostles Peter and Paul Church.
After the service took place Company of Honour of the Podlasie Region Border Guard, accompanied by color party and the Volunteer Fire Brigade orchestra marched to John Paul 2nd square. There the report was made on the occasion of the celebration of the Border Guard.
The ceremony was attended by the commander of Polish Border Guard, Border Guard Col. Leszek Czech, the commanders of neighboring troops, officers and employees of the Border Guards, chaplains of Orthodox Military Ordinariate of the Polish Army as well as other ordinariates, parishioners and residents of Siemiatycze.
It was the first time that the celebration of the Border Guard has been organized by the Orthodox dean, Fr. Adam Weremijewicz.
