The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:
On 3 May 2012, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church received at the Patriarchate Palace, His Excellency Mr. Nicolae Timofti, President of the Republic of Moldova, who was on an official visit to Romania. Mr. Eugen Tomac, State Secretary for the Romanians from everywhere, and Mr. Marius Lazurca, Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau were also present.
The Patriarch of Romania saluted the presence of Mr. President Nicolae Timofti in Bucharest and appreciated the concern of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova for dialogue and cooperation in European context.
Mr. President Nicolae Timofti thanked for reception and referred to the efforts of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova for solving the present problems, especially the social ones, generated by the economical-financial crisis and by migration.
During the meeting also emphasised was the importance of keeping the national identity of the citizens with the same language, culture, faith and tradition for a common witness in European and world context.
The Patriarch of Romania offered the President of the Republic of Moldova an icon of gilded silver of the Mother of God – Prodromita and a few albums.
