BELGRADE — Serbian Patriarch Irinej called on Orthodox believers to safeguard and rightfully confess the Orthodox faith.
He also called on them to pray for their brothers and sisters in Kosovo on the day of the resurrection of Christ.
“We offer our unceasing prayers to our resurrected Christ for our brothers and sisters in Kosovo and Metohija. We ask them to never give up in spirit and to remain faithful to their Orthodox faith on their and our ancestral homestead,” says the patriarch’s Easter epistle.
“This great day, this holy day obligates all of us to safeguard human dignity, in everyone, and in ourselves,” he said.
The Patriarch called on the believers to carefully and soberly discern the events of the present.
“Let us discern good from evil, the temporary from the eternal, the permanent from the transient,” he said.
The Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates Easter on Sunday, April 15.
