Patriarch Irinej consecrates Church in Modrica

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch officiated at the Divine Liturgy and consecrated a newly built church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in Modrica’s suburb of Visnjik. On this occasion the President of the Republic of Srpska Mr. Milorad Dodik honored Patriarch Irinej with the Order of the Republic of Srpska on the ribbon.

After the Divine Liturgy, at which among those concelebrating with His Holiness were bishops: Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic and Antonije of Moravica, Patriarch Irinej said to the believers that they remain faithful to its their people, to love their homeland and to cooperate with their representatives as much as they could.

The President of Srpska Milorad Dodik said that the arrival of Serbian Patriarch today in Modrica was a great holiday with messages of peace and love.

The President of the Government of the RS Aleksandar Dzombic said that the coming of Patriarch Irinej today in the Republic of Srpska and the consecration of the church in Modrica was a great event for Srpska.

Today’s celebration in Visnjik, which was attended by severeal thousands believers, besides the officials of Srpska and the SOC, there were Minister of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Person’s Protection, Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Sredoje Novic, representatives in the National Assembly of RS, mayors of many municipalities from the RS and other guests.
