Kairat Mami met with Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Archbishop Alexander

Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan

Speaker of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Kairat Mami has met with Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Archbishop Alexander today. The Metropolitan is taking part in the 10th session of the Secretariat, the press service of the House of the Parliament informs.

K. Mami expressed appreciation to the Russian Orthodox Church for support of this meeting that was organized and held on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and expressed his hopes for development of further cooperation within the forum as well.

According to K. Mami, one of the most significant events for all orthodox christians in Kazakhstan was the visit of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to Kazakhstan in January of 2010.

‘This forum is a creation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev’, Archbishop Alexander noted and emphasized that Kazakhstan was a leading country in development of interethnic interaction and was a vivid example of peace and harmony.
