As a remembrance of his visit to the Holy Dormition Monastery of Odessa Patriarch Kirill planted a Tree
On July 22 as a remembrance of his stay in the Holy Dormition Patriarchal Monastery of Odessa His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, staying in Odessa within the program of visitation of the dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, planted a birch-tree in the territory of the abode.
The tree will grow beside a birch planted once by His Holiness Patriarch Pimen of Moscow and All Russia, who, as his predecessor Patriarch Alexy I often called to the Dormition Monastery and received here the Primates and hierarchs of the Local Orthodox Churches and other guests of the Russian Orthodox Church. Twice, in 1990 and 1997 His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of the blessed memory came to the monastery.
