Belgrade: Liturgy for canonization of new Saints

2/5/2010

On the occasion of canonization of new saints – Justin Celijski and Simeon Dajbabski, in line with the decision of the Serbian Orthodox Church Synod, Patriarch Irinej and arch episcopes have served a liturgy in the temple of St Sava in Belgrade. The explanation of the Synod decision from two days ago was read by Metropolitan Amfilohije, and it stresses that the goal of this act is the spiritual benefit of the Serbian people.

Amfilohije has pointed out that fathers Justin and Simeon were celebrating God and the Orthodox faith with their lives, following the model of Christ in their deeds. The celebration was attended by many believers, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic. The late archimandrite Justin Popovic was the spiritual guide of the Celije Monastery near Valjevo, and Simeon Popovic the abbot of the monastery Dajbabe near Podgorica.
