Holy Synod of Bishops to hold spring session March 15-16

SYOSSET, NY [OCA] — Members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America will hold their spring session at the Chancery here March 15-16, 2010.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, will chair the session, which will review numerous issues raised several days earlier at the joint meeting of the Lesser Synod and Metropolitan Council.

Among the major issues slated to be discussed during plenary and closed sessions are the forthcoming North American Episcopal Assembly, relations with Orthodox Sister Churches, the Strategic Plan, the final report of the committee investigating the financial situation of Saint Tikhon’s Monastery and Bookstore, the 16th All-American Council, and a number of legal matters. Diocesan bishops will offer updates on the life of their respective dioceses. Comprehensive reports also will be given by the Church’s officers.

On Wednesday, the hierarchs will commune at the celebration of the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at Saint Sergius of Radonezh Chapel.
