On 18th January 2010, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated and preached the homily at the Divine Liturgy in the packed Holy patriarchal Church of St Savvas the Sanctified on Alexandria., on the feast of the commemoration of Ss Athanasios and Kyrilos, Patriarchs of Alexandria,

Afterwards, His Beatitude, together with the Honorary Mr George Diakofotakis, Consul General of Greece in Alexandria and Mr. Stephanos Tamvakis, President of the Society of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), conducted the inauguration of the new Museum of the Holy Patriarchal Monanastery of St Savvas, which he dedicated to the memory of his predecessor, the Late Patriarch Nicholas VI.

This museum holds many publications from the Monastery, ecclesiastical appurtenances and holy icons of great historical value from churches of the Holy Archdiocese of Alexandria and the church of St George in the city of Kafr el Zayat, patriarchal and hierarchal vestments, etc.

Prior to the end of the ceremony, the Honorary Mr Tamvakis gave His Beatitude the only copy of the anniversary publication of the poem “The City”, by the Alexandrian poet Constantinos Kavafis. This rare publication in thirty three languages was created for the 75th anniversary of the death and 145 anniversary of the birth of the renowned poet.

His Beatitude then blessed the Vasilopitta of the Lyceum of Greek Women of Alexandria.
