Project Launched – 2009 Web Portal Launched – 2013
Metropolitan Alvares Julius Research Project™ (MARP) is the first exclusive project for the research and study of the missionary efforts of Metropolitan Alvares Julius and his companions, as well as the Western Rite (Latin Rite, Anglo Rite, Old Catholic, Independent Catholic, Protestant) communities that reunited with Syriac-Malankara Orthodox Churches. Such reunited communities are collectively called Western Rite Orthodox.
MARP™ aims at promoting the mission and life of the legendary Metropolitan Alvares Julius and his companions who were directly and indirectly connected with Syriac-Malankara Orthodox Churches. The project intends to research and publish known and unknown aspects of Metropolitan Julius, his life, mission, and his companions. MARP™ is an attempt to explore and study Western Rites of Oriental Orthodox Churches with special reference to Syriac & Indian Orthodox Malankara Churches.
Materials published are original research articles by MARP™ or compiled from various sources. The Project features Indian Malankara and Syriac Orthodox Church prelates, laymen, who were, directly and indirectly, connected to Metropolitan Alvares and his missionary efforts.
MARP™ is a learning research project under the Center for Orthodox Studies (COS), which is constituted under the Department of Church Research and Studies of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE ® (OCP), Pan-Orthodox Christian Society, launched in 2009. The web portal of the Project was inaugurated in the month of May 2013.
